Questions You May Have

Beginning therapy often comes with questions โ€” I'm happy to address them

About Therapy

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and begin exploring how I can best support you. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with โ€” we move at a pace that feels right for you.
If you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, are in acute distress, or are simply seeking greater well-being and a more fulfilling life, therapy may be beneficial. A consultation can help determine whether my approach is the right fit for your needs.
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, history, and the concerns being addressed. Some individuals seek support for a specific issue and benefit from a shorter course of treatment, while others choose longer-term work focused on deeper healing and personal growth. We will discuss this together during our initial sessions.

About EMDR

Talk therapy often focuses on understanding patterns and developing new perspectives through conversation. EMDR works more directly with how distressing experiences are stored in the brain and nervous system, helping reduce their emotional impact and promote healing โ€” often without requiring repeated retelling of painful events in detail.
No. While EMDR is widely recognized for treating PTSD, it can also be effective for anxiety, burnout, attachment wounds, negative self-beliefs, and the lasting effects of a wide variety of difficult life experiences. You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from EMDR therapy.
The length of EMDR treatment varies depending on your history, goals, and the complexity of the concerns being addressed. Some clients experience meaningful shifts in a relatively short period, while others benefit from longer-term work. We will discuss this during our initial sessions and revisit it as our work progresses.
Yes. EMDR can be effectively adapted for telehealth using secure virtual tools and techniques. I provide telehealth EMDR for adults throughout Connecticut and New York, and many clients find virtual EMDR to be equally effective as in-person sessions.

Practical Questions

Research has shown telehealth therapy to be highly effective for many concerns, including trauma, anxiety, and depression. Together, we can determine whether virtual or in-person sessions are the best fit for your needs, and some clients choose a combination of both.
I accept Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna. I also provide out-of-network services. Many clients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network behavioral health benefits, and I provide a superbill for insurance submission. Please call to verify current panel participation.
